Please join us in congratulating gallery artist Elizabeth Casqueiro whose painting Convolution, which is currently hanging in MassoniArt as part of the Finding Light .1 exhibit, was chosen for the London Art Biennale which is a museum-quality award exhibition curated by Gagliardi Gallery in conjunction with the International Confederation of Art Critics and the Chianciano Art Museum.

Art for me is a search for the self in the fragile and interconnected space between human existence and the world that sustains us, between that which we fabricate and that which is purely organic. Ultimately, I hope that many years from now others will look at my art and decide that my generation was, after all, aware and concerned about this place we call home.
Elizabeth Casqueiro was born in England and grew up in Portugal. She came to live in the United States, first as a high school exchange student and later as a graduate student. She works from her studios in Washington, DC and Easton, Maryland.

Elizabeth holds degrees in architecture and design.  She also pursued art studies at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Lisbon, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art in London, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and the Washington Studio School. After a career as a corporate architect in the World Bank Group, during which she traveled extensively to the far reaches of the globe, she now pursues her passion for art making on a full- time basis.

Her portfolio includes painting, drawing, ceramics, and 3-dimensional multimedia work.  Her themes are inquiries into the intersection of the manmade, the natural, and the imagined.  Comic book characters surface frequently as a reminder of the impact of popular culture on modern day society, as do personally significant references to history, industrial objects, and childhood gardens.

Elizabeth exhibits in the United States and in Europe and her artwork is in private and corporate collections.
