Past Exhibits

Elizabeth Casqueiro was born in England and grew up in Portugal. She came to live in the United States, first as a high school exchange student and later as a graduate student.  A resident of the District of Columbia, she works from her studios in Washington, DC and Easton, Maryland.

Elizabeth holds degrees in architecture and design.  She also pursued art studies at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Lisbon, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art in London, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and the Washington Studio School. After an extensive career as a corporate architect in the World Bank Group, during which she traveled extensively to the far reaches of the globe, she now pursues her passion for art making on a full-time basis.

Her portfolio includes painting, drawing, ceramics, and 3-dimensional multimedia work.  Her themes are inquiries into the intersection of the manmade, the natural, and the imagined.  Comic book characters surface frequently as a reminder of the impact of popular culture on modern day society, as do personally significant references to history, industrial objects, and childhood gardens.

Elizabeth exhibits in the United States and in Europe and her artwork is in private and corporate collections.
