Blake M Conroy is from Aberdeen, Maryland. He holds a BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Conroy is a recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award. His drawings are about nature and the nature of our (human) perception. The marks he uses in his work are holes through the paper or metal. The works appearance changes subtly as the light progresses from morning to evening and into the artificial light of the night. Solo shows include Hardesty Art Center in Tulsa Ok, Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati Ohio, and Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg Pennsylvania. Selected group shows include: Brand 45,Works on Paper, 45th Annual National Juried Exhibition, Brand Library and Arts Center, Glendale California, Seventh Annual Laumeister Fine Art Competition, The Bennington Center For the Arts, Bennington, Vt, St. Tammany Art Association’s 50th Juried Artists Exhibition, the Summer Show, Art House, Covington, La, among others. He is the Foundry Foreman for New Arts Foundry. He has worked on projects large and small from Texas to Boston including: the renovation of the Freedom Statue atop the US Capitol, Orangutans for the National Zoo in Washington, D. C., the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington DC, and the statue of Tamanend, a Native American in Philadelphia.
