Intimate Generations, Too
February 15 - March 15
February 15 – March 15, 2020
Chestertown Art Crawl – Saturday, February 22, 10-5
March First Friday Reception – March 6, 5-7:30 pm
Chestertown’s art community extends a welcome to Tara Gladden, the new Gallery Director and Curator for the Kohl Gallery at Washington College. Tara reached out to those of us in the local arts community to create an “art crawl” from the College to local galleries, studios, and arts organizations using her exhibition – Intimate Generations – as a focus.
Massoniart responded with a call to our gallery artists to explore the subject. The response has been extraordinary. Intimate Generations, Too is our take on this provocative subject. It will feature: Simma Liebman, Blake Conroy, Nicole Fall, Eve Stockton, Emily Kalwaitis, Greg Mort, Joe Karlik, Katherine Cox, Heidi Fowler, Anne Leighton Massoni, Elizabeth Casqueiro, Kathryn O’Grady, Susan Hostetler, Mary McCoy, Grace Mitchell, Lisa Lebofsky, Meredith Davies Hadaway, Alessandra Manzotti, Faith Wilson and Ken Schiano.
Tara Gladden – Kohl Gallery/Washington College – Exhibition Statement
Each person’s relationship with their family is a complicated issue. Whether we feel close or not, we get along or we don’t; we are intimately connected. We can create distance if necessary, but it’s difficult to escape formative memories, ancestral bonds, and DNA. Selected works serve as snapshots of re-imagined, re-constructed family narratives, relationships, and identities that communicate an array of contradictory emotions. Individual expressions of love, joy, longing, heartache, connection, and critique all live equally within these Intimate Generations
