In 2006, Susan Kerns was approached by master printer George Holzer to create a series of IRIS digital prints based on her original paintings of flowers. Kerns, who works primarily in oil, was intrigued by the process of translating her works into a water-based medium. The timing suited her personal life and the process began in late January.
Holzer draws much satisfaction from working with others. His clients include Robert Rauschenberg, the Guggenheim Museum, and several Gallery artists. The process Kerns embarked on with Holzer included the sharing and combining of skills, vision and solutions to produce something more, something different, and resulted in the production of the Solstice series. one of the meanings of “solstice” is to stand still momentarily or tochange direction. We are so pleased Susan Kerns has done so. The seven images selected for the Solstice series will be limited to editions of ten and premiered – appropriately so – during the weekend of the 2007 summer solstice.
A percentage of the proceeds from the Solstice series will benefit Saint Martin’s Ministries – Helping Those in Need. Gifts to Saint Martin’s ministries are tax deductible. www.stmartinsministries.org
