These natural structures hold a quiet wisdom: they are both fragile and resilient, shaped by care, instinct, and time. I return to them again and again, finding reflections of my own emotional landscape in their growth, decay, and renewal.
I also draw from a family tradition of affection — my grandparents filled their cards with rows of X’s and O’s, an overflowing expression of love. That gesture has become a recurring mark in my work, layered across the surface as a visual echo of connection and tenderness.
My paintings exist between representation and abstraction, where drips, smudges, and textures are not mistakes but vital expressions — traces of emotion and process. I’m interested in finding beauty in what is often perceived as imperfect or accidental, allowing the work to evolve through intuition and surrender. Over time, forms emerge — petals, nests, gestures — rising from layers of color and memory.
Each piece becomes a record of time spent, a residue of care and contemplation. I hope my work invites viewers to see the quiet harmony between the natural and emotional worlds, where love and imperfection coexist.
Joe was raised in Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute, College of Art. As well as showing his artwork throughout the years at various venues, including the Walters Museum of Art, Joe has earned a reputation as an innovative event and graphic designer with clients all over the country. His work is diverse and creative, from designing events for the Pope and the President of the United States to Spongebob Squarepants and MTV.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
