James Tatum, SWAc*
James Tatum moved from Canada to the U.K. in 1987. James has drawn and painted for most of his life. After a long career in industrial design and engineering, he moved from London to Devon in 2007 in order to paint full time.
His landscape paintings begin en plein air with a series of drawings, watercolours and acrylics, and are completed in his studio in Exeter. “My goal is to combine close observation with an intuitive, visceral response to the overall environment. The paintings are a record of the total sensory experience of being in particular place and a particular time.”
He regularly exhibits throughout the U.K. and in the U.S.A. , Holland and Switzerland.
His paintings are in collections in the U.K., Holland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the U.S.A.
